Container Weighing Service Procedure Update
Baltic Container Terminal has updated its container weighing service procedures to comply with the latest SOLAS VGM (Verified Gross Mass) regulations and to improve overall operational efficiency at the terminal.
What Has Changed
Effective immediately, all requests for container weighing services must be submitted through the BCT prebooking system no later than 24 hours before the planned gate-in time. Walk-in weighing requests will no longer be accepted without prior registration.
Updated Documentation Requirements
When submitting a weighing request, clients are required to provide the following information:
- Container number and ISO size/type
- Booking reference or bill of lading number
- Declared cargo weight and tare weight
- Contact details of the authorised signatory
Weighing Methods
BCT continues to offer two SOLAS-compliant VGM methods. Method 1 involves weighing the packed container using calibrated and certified weighing equipment at the terminal. Method 2 allows the shipper to calculate VGM by adding the verified weight of the cargo and all packing materials to the tare weight of the container.
Tariff Information
The weighing service tariff remains unchanged. All applicable charges are published in the current BCT tariff schedule, available upon request from the commercial department.
