Strategic Location

Latvia is situated on the south-east coast of the Baltic Sea, between Estonia and Lithuania. In the 1980s, Riga was chosen as the main entry point for containerised cargo from the industrial centres of the former Soviet Union, due to its geographic position and well-developed road and railway network.

The terminal covers 57 hectares on an island at the mouth of the river Daugava, benefiting from favourable navigation conditions all year round.

BCT serves regional feeder vessels trading with Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The terminal has developed integrated logistic chains with direct rail and road connections to Berlin, Warsaw, Vilnius and other major regional centres.
